For the record, Saints QB Drew Brees still has a "nonexistent" relationship with his mother, so he probably didn't sign off on her recent plan to dupe Texas restaurants into paying her for the name of their own business.
The situation is a little confusing, but apparently Mina Brees, who is a lawyer in Austin, sent of a series of letters toHouston restaurant owners informing them that she had purchased their "assumed business names" from the county clerk. Her company, Chicksports Inc. (seriously?), was gracious enough to offer the names back to them for the low, low price of $20,000. This is basically like cybersquatting on a domain name, only without the fun of the internet.
Of course, things work differently in the real world. Technically, the business names do expire, but if you've already been doing business under that name then no one can make you change it. A lawyer for the restaurant owners' association said the whole thing is bunk and added, "I'm a member of the bar, and it's embarrassing for someone in our profession to do something like that." In other words, "Nice try, nut job."
Ms. Brees plan for financial glory has worked almost as well as her campaign strategy of improperly using her estranged son's face to try and get elected to the Texas Court of Appeals. It's true the rural Texan voters love anything associated with quarterbacks from New Orleans, but perhaps she should give her schemes a little more thought.

u make sense lol, i have some with labels on and others not
ReplyDeleteI been trying to understand that myself. But if you take the label off..it gets dust stuck where the lable was...
ReplyDeletethe average nigga aint no collector though.. few hats max.
ReplyDeleteTTTTTTRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEE u got a point
ReplyDeleteu got a point. i agree
ReplyDeleteI take everything off except da gold sticker, its starting to peel off though. I keep it on cus others do, I dunno why.. just to go with the fashion I guess ha....
ReplyDeleteshit i kal it like dis, errybody diffrent!!! i keep ma tags on kuz for sum reason dat gold be lookin good juz sittin rite dey!!! LoL but i du take da price off, but da otha tag dat be unda da brim gotta stay!!!
ReplyDeleteI understand that peeps keep it on cuz they collect their fitteds. Especially in the case of 59fifties. If it was a Stall & Dean, or what other brand is out there, I wouldn't be bothered by ripping them out. But them stickers give your collection cred. With so many counterfeiters out there, it's like collectors feel more secure with the stickers on. If you wear them though, I don't see the point. Good point, though, this is prolly the most debatable topic for fitted collectors.
ReplyDeleteIf u take it off sometimes the color is lighter under the sticker so me personally i leave it on,it makes it look more krispy!!!
ReplyDeleteI take the price stickers off, personally, but I leave the 5950 label on the top. For me, it's kinda the same as if someone collects action figures and doesn't take it out of the packaging since they are trying to keep it in mint condition as much as possible, except I still wear my hats, because I'm not just buying the hat to display it, but I want to keep it in it's original condition as much as possible. I hope that's at least understandable, and different people do different things.
ReplyDeleteThat's a damn good point.
ReplyDeleteI leave the sticker on it so it looks fresh
ReplyDeleteI keep the tags on it as a way to keep it clean, cause some fitteds comes with a white bottom or top brim. By placing your fingers on the tags when moving or taking it off, helps keeps it clean you know what i mean bro? Try it out. Peace.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I keep the tags on because If you think about it, some Fitteds have either white brim on the top on bottom...now think for a sec...if your hand/ fingers happens to be dirty...and you touch your white brimmed hat..what will happen? when i grab or move my fitted i place my fingers on the tags to avoid dirtyin or messin up it up. If you can try it out. Grab your fitted and place your fingers on where the tags are and then you'll get what im saying. Just a thought. Peace Bro.
ReplyDeleteholla
ReplyDeletei do it cuz other ppl do it. but now i take them off :)
ReplyDeleteits a hood thing like back in the 90's we use to keep the tags that hag out but now we got the new era hats with stickers
ReplyDeleteYeah, I see loads of people who wear fitted hats, and they still leave the tags on.
